What can I eat?

10 days! That said, today I am listing foods you Can eat during this Daniel’s fast. smile Note these foods are great for your mind, body, and your spirit year-round. I am praying as was said in the book of Daniel:

Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, 12 “Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink. 13 Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see.” 14 So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days.15 At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food. JUST Think how good you will look and feel after 28 days! To read the full story which includes the foods the King wanted to feed them read: Daniel 1: 1-15.

Foods to Eat:

Fruits & Vegetables: fresh, frozen, dried, juiced, and canned. These should be free of additional sweeteners using herbs to add any extra flavoring. https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/salt-alternatives One of my fav alternatives is herbs de provence: https://www.masterclass.com/articles/what-are-herbs-de-provence

Whole grains: amaranth, barley, brown rice, oats, quinoa, millet, whole wheat – Love them all!

Nuts & Seeds: almonds, cashews, macadamia, peanuts, pecans, pine nuts, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, nut butters. You guessed it unsalted. Herbs can spice these up too.

Unleavened Bread: whole grain breads made without yeast, sugars, or preservatives = the website: The Biblical Nutritionist has good recipes for these. https://thebiblicalnutritionist.com/how-to-make-unleavened-bread-recipe/

Legumes: Canned or dried. black beans, black-eyed peas, cannellini beans, garbanzo beans (checkpeas) great northern beans, split peas, kidney beans, pinto beans, & lentils

Quality Oils: canola, coconut, flaxseed, grapeseed, olive, peanut, sesame. A plus on the coconut oil is it is good for your memory. https://draxe.com/nutrition/coconut-oil-benefits/

Beverages: distilled water, filtered water, spring water. Yep, Water the key to our survival. https://wellnessmovementcenter.com/water-key-life/ & https://www.thoughtco.com/how-much-of-your-body-is-water-609406

Ok, there you have your shopping list and some sites to lend a hand when creating your tasty dishes.

As we enter this Fast keep in mind, we were given authority on Earth to take care of ALL God created. That includes yourself. To fulfill our roles, we are to be good stewards with the Blessings given by the Father. For us to be a good steward we must feed not only our bodies good food but, our Minds and Hearts. The Good Food for that portion of the fast is, you guessed it, the GOOD News – The Word of God. Not only are we cleansing the body but, our goal is to “break up the fallow ground of the hearthttps://biblehub.com/sermons/auth/pearse/the_garden_of_the_heart.htm

Shalom! Enjoy!
