Reasons to Fast

Good Morning!

I thought I would kick off the Prep sharing some reasons WHY we should Fast. The reasons are much more important than thoughts of loosing weight. Our motivation should be centered on God and sharing quality time & love in our relationship with Him. Not focused on our body or just because it is tradition of your Religion. We live in a very materialistic society these days, it seems mankind’s focus is becoming more and more interested in Stuff and having, listening, and doing what everybody else does than cultivating Love/relationship with God, family, and neighbors. Ya know that’s how sheep are led to slaughter right? Did you know even as far back as the 10 Commandments given to Moses, God talked about materialism and being satisfied with what you have.

Bottom line: The First and Foremost reason for your Fasting, is to help you re-align your focus on God, his original design, and the Power of Love and relationship with all creation. Mark 9:29 shows that the disciples needed a power from God that comes only through fasting. Matthew 17:20 and 21 say that fasting and prayer coupled with faith in God can work spiritual miracles. (personally, I think we could really use some miracles right now & this is 30 days not 40, like Jesus did, unless you choose to do 40. smile) Spiritual Benefits are: Guidance & Cultivation in the Spirit of Love, Committed Focused Prayer, Strengthening of your spirit, & Cleansing of the Mind. Remember: “As a Man/Woman thinketh so is he/she.”  (great little book for the fast) What are your thoughts these days? Love, uplifting, caring? Or Fear, anger, grumpy, etc. Which do you think are best for you and yours. Yep, Fasting is a perfect way to get back on track to Joy, Peace, Comfort, Love, Forgiveness, Mercy, and more which Will Bear good fruit within and without. Our Earth cannot maintain us or survive out of order. and there is an order.

Then you make your reason God 1st the 2ndary benefits to the body come along with it. smile Here are just a few:

  1. Promotes Blood Sugar Control by Reducing Insulin Resistance.
  2. Promotes Better Health by Fighting Inflammation.
  3. May Enhance Heart Health by Improving Blood Pressure, Triglycerides and Cholesterol Levels.
  4. May Boost Brain Function and Prevent Neurodegenerative Disorders.
