Day 6 of Daniel’s Fast

Hi! How’s it going ya’ll? I am doing well. Do I think about cheese and crackers daily? Yes! However, I have abstained. LOL It is getting easier as each day goes by not to think on these. One other thing I noticed is I miss yogurt and mayonnaise a lot too. Then today, in my daily readings book, Torah for Living it talked about the story of Esau and Jacob and how Esau gave up his birthright because he was very hungry. (Gen. 25: 29-34) Now you would think that’s pretty dumb or at least extreme right? Then it said: BEWARE: Don’t let short-term pleasure trump long-term gain. Don’t put self-indulgence before long-term spiritual gain. That made me think and ask myself, how many times have I let short-term pleasure mislead me? I don’t even want to admit how often now that I thought on it. And it drove home once again how mankind continues to repeat this story Still! So, who’s the dummy now? Esau or Us from not learning from this story.

It also got me thinking about my fast, especially the food part. All these questions popped up in my head: How often do we just eat stuff or “get addicted” to certain foods that are clearly not for our best benefit? Our bodies and health are part of our birthright ya know. Are we thinking through our choices of what we eat and the consequences/ implications of those choices? Is getting what you want in the Moment always what you Need? Are our immediate desires beneficial in living our best life?

After I thought about my answers, I then felt the need to pray: ” Lord, stop me from just feeding my immediate impulses and remind me to Think before I act. I want to live wisely; I want to honor the temple you have given me and love according to your will and plan for my life. Thank you, Lord, for giving me eyes to see and ears to hear the benefits in the story of Esau and Jacob. in the name of Yeshua (Jesus) Amen

Shalom! I’m off to make my Spinach and Kiwi salad with a side of noodle soup

Noodle Soup

Vegetable broth, 1 cup purple onions, 3/4 c. thin sliced zucchini, 3/4 c. carrots, 2 tblsp. garlic, uncooked whole grain pasta, 2 tblsp. soy sauce or tamari, 1 tblsp. dill minced, 1/2 tsp olive oil, & my fav a nice pinch of Herbs de Provence. One week & our Fast begins

If you are reading this for the 1st time, be sure and go back and read the last 4 posts prior to this one. All January & February 2022 posts are related to our doing a Daniel’s Fast for the 28 days of February.

Today I want to share another tasty recipe so you can see this is not a starve me or awful fast. LOL

Asian Noodle Salad. Yummy!

8 oz. whole wheat thin spaghetti noodles

2 tblsp. canola oil, 1/4 c. chopped cilantro, 3 tblsp. soy sauce, 2 tblsp. fresh Lemon Or Lime juice

1 tsp minced garlc, 1 tsp. minced ginger or 1 drop doterra ginger oil, 1 tsp sesame oil, 1 tsp. sesame oil

1 tsp. creamy peanut butter, 1 tsp red pepper flakes, 1 Cup peeled, seeded, and sliced cucumber

1 C. sliced snow peas,1/2 c. diced red bell pepper, 1/2 c. pineapple chunks cut in half & dash of pepper

Cook your noodles, drain well (do not rinse), coat in canola oil and set to the side

Combine all your seasonings along with the peanut butter, add remaining items & then toss with your noodles. Let stand for 1 hour at room temp. Stir occasionally for full flavor. Just like that, Let’s Eat! Notice how there is very little cooking involved on this one. Gotta love that.

That one hour wait time would be perfect time to turn on some tunes and get some dance exercise in. Alone or with your hubby and/or the kids. smile Fun, laughter, song, and dance raise your serotonin levels lifting your mood. https://www.livestrong.com/article/22590-effects-exercise-serotonin-levels/

Don’t feel like dancing, it would be a good time to spend in His Word. Maybe memorize some verses. I love 1John 1:7: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. The site below has many good ones.

That’s it for this post. Shalom & Enjoy!

No Cheese!

Ok, so this week I am listing the AVOID foods for our Daniel’s fast beginning February 1st, 2022. As my title indicates Cheese is not allowed. boo hoo! I am a true cheese lover, eating some form of cheese everyday. I hadn’t even thought about it really until I was reading and prepping for this fast. It’s been part of my daily lifestyle for who knows how long. I decided to look into the effects of too much cheese and found answers to some of my minor health complaints. Check this out! https://www.eatthis.com/news-side-effects-eating-too-much-cheese/

I spent a few days thinking I don’t know if I can give up cheese for a Whole Month! Then I heard that still small voice of the Holy Spirit say, ” Really, think back: together we kicked that smoking habit in one day & even bigger – you had victory over a heroine addiction in 30 days & have Never looked back. That was over 30 years ago. Now you are whining about cheese!” Boy did I feel foolish. That was just the kick in the pants I needed. Thank You Holy Spirit! As I stated in my post last week, this is not “just” a food fast. If you “choose” to fully participate in this fast, as Susan Gregory says, “you are entering this experience to draw closer to the Lord and to hear His directions for your life and/or the lives of others.” So today, part of our prep is to begin daily prayers, have a chat with Jesus, ask for strength, guidance, and submit yourself with a committed heart. A Good prayer to start is: Psalms 25: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+25&version=NIV

Now for those foods to AVOID:

MEAT: beef, buffalo, fish, yes I said fish too, lamb, pork, poultry, ALL living animals meat.

Dairy Products: Butter, CHEESE, Cream, Eggs, and Milk. No surprise here, dairy comes from animals.

Sweeteners: Agave, nectar, artificial sweetners, cane juice, honey molassess, raw sugar, granulated sugar, brown sugar, syrups, and stevia.. So read the ingredients on your purchases to see what’s inside. FYI: this one is a bit harder than it looks as SO Many things have some form of sugar. Even though Yogurt is not on our Can eat list. Did you know Yogurt is Full of sugar? Even the non fruity ones.

Leavened Bread & Yeast: ANY breads with yeast. BTW: Ezekiel bread does contain yeast and honey. Actually, most baked goods do have yeast.

Refined & Processed food products: artificial food flavorings, chemicals, food additives, preservatives, white flour, & white rice. Don’t give up! Wait till you see next weeks post: there are plenty of good foods and enough you won’t starve! I promise.

Deep-fried foods: Now you Knew this was coming. smile No forms of fried Chips, French fries, deep fried ice cream, deep fried pickles, No Fried foods! Check out buying a dehydrator or air fryer maybe cause you can eat potatoes.

Solid fats: Lard, margarine, shortening

Beverages: Alcohol, caffeine which includes coffee & caffeinated teas, carbonated drinks, & energy drinks.

I for one love my One cup of coffee in the AM & my afternoon teas. So right up front, I will not lie, I will be eliminating the caffeinated teas and will drop down to 1/2 cup of my chicory coffee with no cream. That is a huge sacrifice along with eliminating my CHEESE! I still have to work, & giving up my coffee and teas at the same time, I know will result in a headache. No-one wants wo work with Countess Cruella for 28 days. LOL I am not saying I endorse making lots of changes to the Fast. I do not. And I am not. Just this one tweek & I Fully understand if you need this tweek as well. God knows who I would be, so I am trusting He will have mercy on me in allowing 1/2 c. chicory coffee. Like I told my friend yesterday, I am not much into extremism and that is extreme!

Good News: Next week will be Foods we Can Eat and a couple of tasty recipes! Just keep in mind the end results: A healthier Mind, Body, and Spirit.

Shalom!

Mistakes don’t limit us

All to often we allow our mistakes or poor choices to limit us going forward in life. We let these mistakes/choices to take root binding us in emotional fears which grow and define us. And there are so many fears that can limit us. You/We can control these fears. Life continues to reveal to me anyway, all is founded in our choices.

I started reading the Bible from the beginning and this time around, this Fact is really jumping out at me. Example: let’s take David who made a real poor choice and it was eating at him, binding him, and affecting his reign as King. Then he chooses to repent, shift his attitude & He seeks God, starts praising God, & looking at hos Blessings which results in making good choices. His Life shifts, is transformed, and begins once again to bear good fruit.

One area for many is the mistakes we make with our financial choices. Or delusion of thinking we “need” to keep up with fads – often expensive fads or as the old saying says: “Keeping up with the Joneses”. All to often these choices of spending are whether you/we actually have the income to support that lifestyle or not.

So the point of this post is that if this post taps you up, you take heed, really take stock of your finances, how you look at yourself and your life. Look at how you are making your decisions & driving your thoughts and “needs”. I had to make those hard choices 4 years ago and Wow what a difference it has made in my life. Yes, I had to make sacrifices – some tough ones in fact however, I can honestly say now I fully understand Romans 8:28: ” we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. ” The part who have been called according to His purpose, I always thought meant a literal ministry type purpose. What I realize now is “called according to His purpose” is our transformation to living in The Way of His plan and purpose for our life. Our being obedient to His Plan and purpose in our creation of Being who we were designed to BE. And while we do minister in all we do there is more to it. It applies to our own personal daily life & our choices, good & bad determine whether all things work to the good. It is through our discernment, growing in wisdom, living in the Love He shares with us that All Things work to the good and All our Needs are supplied and many of our Wants. It is when the “wants” become selfish, greedy, or beyond our means that things no longer work to the good for us. Why? Because we are not living according to His Plan.

That said, Here are a few questions to kick off your review of what you are allowing to limit you/to bind you.

Do you believe being in debt up to our ears & hording Stuff is part of His Plan?

Do you believe speaking bad about yourself and others is His Plan?

Do you believe holding onto and beating yourself up about your mistakes is part of His Plan?

Last one: Do you believe the distruction of our Earth just to have a bunch of our stuff is part of His Plan?

Verse to Ponder: Matthew 18:18 “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. “ Have you really considered this verse? Has it hit you, What you choose to to allow to Bind you and what you choose to let loose of in the Now, are part of the Keys to Heaven & Hell? Right here on Earth in this Life what you choose has consequences in this life and the next.

The imagination of man is like a canvas, what are you painting with your thoughts and words?

Here are a few videos I enjoy & I hope you enjoy too, should you choose to listen. And there are many more encouraging/helpful videos and readings out there. smile

It’s time for Planting Seeds

Good Morning!  This weekend is one in which we are called to plant new seeds, revive, and restore some that having been lying dormant. As we rise out of the depths of winter, we see some new life rise come forth from the earth on it’s own; from what appeared to be dead. I personally had daffodils pop up that I had no idea were lying buried in my backyard. It is also a time to plant new seeds that will bring forth a good and abundant harvest. In the literal garden, we should all consider seeds for our growth both edibles and seeds of beauty for our soul. A really great way to accomplish this is from the long list of edible flowering plants: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_edible_flowers. Here are a few reminders if you choose this route: You also should NEVER use pesticides or other chemicals on any part of any plant that produces blossoms you plan to eat. Never harvest flowers growing by the roadside. Identify the flower exactly and eat only edible flowers and edible parts of those flowers. Always remember to use flowers sparingly in your recipes due to the digestive complications that can occur with a large consumption rate.  Most herb flowers have a taste that’s similar to the leaf, but spicier.

If the flowers you love are non edible look into mixing in flowers with your veggies seeds to make a beautiful and useful organic garden.  This is my favorite style. https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/vgen/edible-landscaping-mixing-vegetables-and-herbs-with-flowers.htm  And here is a cool say to have a mix: https://richsoil.com/hugelkultur/  some can be planted right into the ground and some planted up on mounds in various places throughout the garden. And of course, for those without the ability to grow outside there are so many indoors ways to grow now it is amazing.. check out You Tube, Google It, Pinterest, and you can even go back thru some of my prior posts for directions and ideas.

This is also a time to restore, renew and revive the inner garden of the heart. This weekend we reflect on the sacrifice Jesus (Yeshua) made for “all” of us. This sacrifice wasn’t just his dying on the cross, it was the sacrifice He made the entire time He walked with man as a man restoring and planting new seeds in the hearts of mankind. His planting comes forth in every season each time someone chooses The Way to and of Love. Like my daffodils, that I had no idea were in my garden, we have seeds bulbs that “can” bring forth and reveal such beauty and joy in the garden of the heart. As Jesus said after he rose from the dead, in Matthew 28: 18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”   These words were said for and to ALL of us. Jesus commands were all seeds of love. He came to show The Way to end sorrow. Matthew 26: 52 Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.”  This was/is the new covenant. It was never God’s plan in creation for division, death, and destruction. Was it allowed and necessary at times? Yes, but, only due to the weeds of hard hearts and evil becoming out of control. Since the seeds of God’s Word were not fully being heard, He came to SHOW us personally The Way to live on Earth as it is in Heaven, as All things are His and that is The Way we should roll. In His sacrifice, the only destruction and division now is in our CHOICES of what seeds we Choose to plant both within and without. As the literal garden sustains our physical bodies and the inner garden our soul/minds. So, I pray you answer the knock and choose to plant the good seeds of Love in all you do. In this, He is and will be with you too Always!  By experience, I can testify your Life will change to the better. I am not saying you won’t have weeds to pull in many seasons, you will but, the harvest that comes forth is so worth the times of your sacrifice and toil. As said in His Word, ” ALL things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose.” (His purpose: to cultivate & restore Love on Earth as in Kingdom of Heaven)

Peace and May you plant many good seed that bear a good harvest. HUGS!
